When you add START_RECLAIM=100 lessfs will not reclaim space until the disk is completely filled. By default it will start to reclaim at 1%.
I noticed that the manual does not yet describe this option, so I will update it with the next release.

A control at either filesystem creation or at mount time would be a great help.
